Sage Timberline – Information Assistant Module

Sage Timberline Office a.k.a. Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate allows construction and real estate firms an opportunity to streamline workflow and processes between departments to improve accounting efficiencies. This blog will provide a brief overview of the Information Assistant module.

Information Assistant is mainly used to run reports and look up information that can be obtained in the other Timberline modules. Each company has a certain amount of licenses per module. If all licenses are being used in those modules, you won’t be able to use them, but Information Assistant can help you bypass those modules and pull the data here.

Information Assistant is capable of doing an inquiry or running reports even while the other modules are being used. However, if someone needs to process or post an entry in payroll for example, they won’t be able to complete the task if you have an active inquiry in Information Assistant.

There is a feature in the Information Assistant module that can allow you to link your email software which can then allow you to send out messages to others notifying them of any issues.

Information Assistant can also be used to change descriptions to match what your company likes to use so the language is the same in Timberline. If there are reports that you run frequently, you can create shortcuts on a toolbar so they are always a click away.

The Information Assistant module does exactly what it says, it assists you with information. No tasks can be completed in this module and can only provide data or information.

Information Assistant can also help notify you of certain items like expiration dates of insurance policies and can also track committed cost reports to let you know if a project is over budget. It can be tailored to your specific needs. Of course with every software update, the Information Assistant gains more capabilities to help make your life easier.

Information Assistant is the easiest module to navigate because no changes can be made here. This is a good tool to help people just getting started with Timberline learn how to run an inquiry and about all reports in the system.

There are many more features of this module so please feel free to contact your TGG professional should you have any questions on this topic.
